TARANGIRE SAFARI LODGE - TARANGIRE - TANZANIA

Tarangire Safari Lodge is built on top of a high bluff with breathtaking panoramic views. This lodge is superbly located in Tarangire National Park, providing one of the best views in Africa. The Tarangire River lies below the lodge and it is a favorite watering place, which attracts impressive numbers and variety of game. The scene unfolds before you while lounging on the outdoor patio, allowing you to appreciate Tarangire's diverse wildlife without ever leaving the lodge.

At the heart of the lodge are the impressively high thatched roofs of the lounge and dining room. The open-sided design allows an uninterrupted view of the landscape and wildlife below, and captures the cooling breeze while you dine on delicious home cooked safari cuisine.

Location
120 km from Arusha & 160 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport

Accommodation
All accommodation has panoramic views. There are 31 twin tents & 4 double tents (35 in Total), all furnished with power, flush toilets, sink & solar-heated showers. 5 bungalows (‘rondavels’) are available for triple occupancy furnished with a double & single bed and spacious bathrooms. Imported baby cots are available upon request. The luxury twin tents combine the authentic safari atmosphere of ‘nights under canvas’, with more modern comforts of electric light and en suite bathrooms with hot water. They also have bungalows that provide the space and convenience of solid walls yet blend into their surroundings by using local stone and echoing the traditional round Maasai huts.

Luxury Twin Tents: The tents are spacious, sturdy and comfortable - more like a room with canvas walls. Built on a solid base; with a thatched roof, screened windows and en suite stone-walled bathroom, the tents provide all the space and comforts you need. All 35 tents have been recently refurbished. In front of each tent is a small veranda where you can sit, relax, admire the view, and watch the wildlife. Three sides of the thick canvas walls can be rolled up to expose netted windows. These allow you to enjoy the cool breeze and experience the bush all around you, without being exposed to the elements or bothered by the insects. The bathroom includes a solar-heated shower with ample hot water, flush toilet, and a dressing room with a wash basin, mirror, clothes rack and laundry basket.

The honeymoon suite is situated near a secluded overlook of the river and is furnished with a large double bed made of old dhow wood.

Bungalows:
The bungalows are built from local stone in the circular style of Maasai huts. Their thick walls, large windows and thatched roof ensure that they remain cool even in the heat of the day. The rooms are tastefully furnished and spacious, light and airy. Electric lights and sockets are powered by the camp generator (220V). In the bedroom you will find a double and a single bed, providing enough room to accommodate three adults, or a small family comfortably. The bathroom is spacious and bright with a large shower and plenty of solar heated water. The dressing area is equipped with a wash basin, and a flush toilet.

In front of the bungalow is a smaller thatched hut with folding safari chairs and a table, which serves as your veranda. It offers a great view down into the valley and makes the perfect spot to unwind after a day’s game viewing, and sip a sun-downer while you enjoy the view.

Lounge & Bar

The lounge area has oversized armchairs made from old Zanzibari dhow boats with over-stuffed cushions, which make a perfect place to relax in the evenings. Tea and coffee is complimentary at all times, or try a local beer or a cocktail mixed at the well stocked bar. Those wanting something a bit more active can take a dip in the pool, a bird walk around the lodge grounds or hunt for souvenirs in the Baobab boutique.

Dining
All meals are served under the vaulted ceiling of the open-aired dining room, providing great views of the landscape below. Dining with International cuisine & poolside snack menus are available. (Special dietary meal requests & early meals for children are welcome.) A lunchbox menu is available at reception. For an early “wake-up call” complimentary tea & coffee can be delivered to your room between 6 - 7 am.

Your day can begin at sunrise with tea or coffee delivered to your room. The extensive breakfast buffet offers a variety of fresh fruit, homemade breads and pastries, cereals, yoghurt and porridge, served alongside freshly brewed Tanzanian coffee or tea. Cooked English-style breakfasts can be ordered to energize your day’s game viewing.

Lunches are typically served buffet style, with a varying selection of soups, salads, and hot and cold dishes and an assortment of delicious desserts.

Dinner is a 3-course meal served at your table. There is always plenty to eat and enough variety to ensure there is something to suit all tastes.
