Friendly, efficient service, great food, camp-baked bread, cold drinks, and the legendary, but traditional, Tanzanian warm hospitality added to the discerning traveler’s experience. In summary, Serengeti Savannah Camps are personal, explorer style, eco-friendly camps with good facilities in truly beautiful areas of the Serengeti ecosystem. Location Serengeti Savannah Camps are ideally placed in both the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National Park to provide accommodation during the peak seasons. The Migration moves back and forth across the Kenya- Tanzania border between Maasai Mara and Southern Serengeti. In addition each area has a comprehensive cast of resident wildlife. From the camps, the wildlife in each area is easily found. Accommodation All the tents are sited carefully to provide as much separation, privacy and a veranda view as the campsite and rangers will allow. Paths between tents are lit with hurricane lamps to deter unwanted night life and to guide guests safely to bed. The tents are well lit to prevent surprises or stress in an unfamiliar environment. The large tents are spacious and have plenty of room for 2 comfortable beds, duvets, spare blanket, bedside tables for your torch, reading book and glasses, a camp chair, luggage racks, a dressing table, canvas wardrobe and an ‘al fresco’ changing area apart from the eco-friendly toilet and hot water bucket shower. The tents have a large veranda. The tents are lit by 12 volt electric light, with torches provided for backup.
Dining The dining tent continues the simple luxury theme, with carefully prepared classic cuisine served with flair and panache. Tanzania’s best kept secrets – its coffee and its tea – are served any time you request, while the reasonably priced bar is well stocked with all the recognized favorites. Special diets are a fully understood and catered for, just let them know well in advance so they can discuss the menu with you. The dining tent with the outdoor campfire area serves as the center of the camp and it is here that the bar and reference books can be found. Dining is usually a communal affair at shared tables, but special ‘starlight’ dinners and private tables can often be arranged. All food is shipped in fresh. Last minute requests will be always be considered and every effort made to accommodate requests. After dinner, lively conversation and star gazing are the name of the game, and, with experienced staff to assist, you too will see the Southern Cross. Sundowners, following your reviving shower, signify the end of another special safari day. As your favorite aperitif is served, the evening insect chorus bids the sun farewell as it turns gloriously from yellow to orange to red to purple. The camp fire is banked and invariably strangers forge friendships and adventures are recounted; to the rhythms and sounds of the African night. Facilities A bush camp is, without doubt, the finest way to enjoy the Serengeti. It should not, and can not, be directly compared with a more permanent camp or lodge. The camp staff desires nothing more than to provide you with such a memorable, comfortable, safe and special stay so that you will not want to leave.
