Mdonya Old River Camp is a quaint and wonderful adventure camp. Overlooking the old Mdonya river bed, this no frills camp is now well established and is perhaps one of the most exciting bush destinations in Tanzania! It is situated in Ruaha National Park.
The park is home to a variety of game, plenty of elephants, and a variety of species of birds, not to mention the diverse scenery of hills and mountains that can be enjoyed on transit from the airstrip to the camp. The camp is situated next to the Old Mdonya River bed which has become a highway for a variety of animals from lions to small dik diks. The camps surroundings are very wild with minimal human impact which encourages the influx of animals that often visit the camp.
Location
Mdonya Old River Camp is located in the Ruaha National Park, the second largest park in Tanzania, a few kilometers from Mdonya Falls and a two-hour, exciting game drive from the airstrip.

Getting there
Flights are available daily from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Arusha and Manyara with Coastal Aviation, to Msembe Airstrip in the Ruaha National Park. Road access is via Iringa.
Accommodation
Mdonya has an assortment of trees which provide shade to the eleven tents that are spread out along the length of the banks of the Old Mdonya River. Each tent has an en suite bathroom with flush toilet and a solar powered hot showers which can be enjoyed under the stars. Each tent is furnished with either twin or double beds with the possibility for family tents. The tents are spacious and use candle light in the evening with a comfortable veranda from which you can watch the animals passing by or just relax and enjoy the wilderness.

Excursions
Mdonya Old River Camp is the ideal base for superb walking and driving safaris. The camp organization is very flexible and guests may choose to go on a morning and evening games drives or for a full day game drive further away from camp, with picnic lunch at a beautiful spot. Sundowners are a special experience in the Ruaha which leaves one in awe of the diverse spread of wilderness.

If you wish to get more adventurous, Fly Camping is an option for one to truly experience the bush in Ruaha.
