| KLEIN'S CAMP - SERENGETI - TANZANIA |
Klein’s Camp is situated in a 10 000 hectare / 24 500 acre wilderness concession and provides the ultimate exclusive East African safari. It is bordered to the north by the Maasai Mara and by the Serengeti in the west. Klein’s is situated on the return route of the migration – mid October to November. Guests enjoy their safari on the Klein’s Camp wilderness concession or in the Serengeti National Park. Unique to this camp as opposed to other camps in Tanzania is the fact that night game drives and bush walks are offered and driving off-road in open game-viewing vehicles is permitted. Maasai trackers accompany all game drives and on bush walks offer an insight into the medicinal use of plants. Community visits can be arranged to gain an insight into the culture of the Maasai, and to see our community projects (optional extra)
Location
&Beyond Klein’s Camp in Northern Tanzania is perched on the edge of the Kuka Hills, which straddles the northeastern border of the Serengeti National Park. Set in a 10 000 hectare (24 500 acre) wilderness concession overlooking wooded hillsides, rolling grasslands, marshes and forested riverbanks, the camp’s spectacular location is in a vital corridor linking the Serengeti and Maasai Mara in Kenya. Elephants are more common here than elsewhere in the Serengeti, and depending on the rains, the migration passes through the area each year in July/August and returns October/November.
Access
A number of scheduled airline services operate a morning scheduled flight from Arusha Airport in Tanzania to Klein’s airstrip, followed by a 1 hour leisurely game drive to Camp.
Accommodation
Ten intimate cottages of local stone and ‘makuti’ (thatch), with rich wooden floors and classic interiors. The bathrooms are en suite and have a shower, twin hand basins and w.c. From the private veranda a diversity of resident wildlife may be viewed in the valley below.
Guest Areas
The camp has a large beautifully furnished open-sided bar/sitting area with a central fireplace, just a short walk from the dining area, both with sweeping views of the valley and surrounding hills. There is a pool and deck tucked into the hillside and the Safari Shop stocks locally made Maasai crafts.
Activities
- Twice-daily game drives in open safari vehicles.
- Night drives on the camp’s wilderness concession are a highlight.
- Guided walks up and along the quartzite hills or in game-rich valley ending with sundowners served on the crest of a hill.
- Bush breakfasts and dinners at spectacular locations are a specialty.
