KAMBI YA TEMBO
(Standard Luxury Game Lodge)

Kambi ya Tembo is an exclusive Luxury tented Lodge situated on the border of Kenya’s Amboseli National Park & Tanzania. It is an exclusive opportunity to experience spectacular game viewing on the foothills and plains, near one of Africa’s legendary peaks - snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro. Upon returning to camp in the evening, you’ll relax under the starry skies of Africa with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro waiting to greet you at first light. Nearby is a Maasai Village that you will visit to see up close, the culture of a great people. Without another tourist group in sight, you’ll feel as though the open plains of Africa belong to you.

There are 12 Tents – 4 tents with king-size beds and 8 tents with twin beds. All tents have showers, dressing table, safari chairs, wardrobe, Spacious private verandah.

SHU'MATA CAMP

Shu’mata Camp is located at the foot of Kilimanjaro, deep in Maasai land, in an area known as South Amboseli. At the front of the camp, bush savannah melts into the slopes of Kilimanjaro, towering above into the blue skies of Africa. So close that on a moonlit night details of the glaciers are visible. Seasonally the surrounding savannah bush teems with wildlife - large herds of elephant, eland, zebra and wildebeest and Oryx as well as Grants and Thompson Gazelle. Lion and Cheetah rub their paws!

Large East African tents, in true Hemingway style, are lined on a hill with magnificent views in all directions. There are six comfortable safari tents in the true Hemingway style. All the tents have en-suite bathrooms, toilet, shower with colorful decorations of Maasai Art. Hot water for the showers is prepared on an open fire and delivered to your bathroom. Each tent has its own veranda with up-lifting views.

HEMINGWAY'S CAMP KIRURUMU

Hemingway's Camp is, in essence, a semi-permanent version of Kirurumu’s Mobile Classic Camping with a few added extras and frills that are easily afforded by a semi permanent camp. The camp is set in under the spreading branches of Acacia tortillis nestled near a volcanic cone which affords superb sundowners and good views. The camp borders the Amboseli National Park and is part of the Amboseli eco-system. Views of Kilimanjaro all the way to Kilimanjaro’s summit are superb and resident game is very good. The ability to walk, night game drive and see Maasai in their natural surroundings makes this a very special place indeed. Fly camping away from camp is also entirely possible.

Hemingway's Camp offers 7 double and twin customised safari tents. The largest tent is available for safari camping and is used for classic camping. Each tent is fully and tastefully furnished with comfortable (twin or double) beds with 6” mattresses, pillows, blankets & sheets, luggage rack, table, safari chairs, mats & soft furnishings in individual style. Solar lighting in both the bedroom and ensuite loo and shower room

In addition the camp has Dining room with waiter service, and a campfire area.

MERU VIEW LODGE

Meru View Lodge is a stone’s throw away from Arusha National Park, the cosy bungalows at Meru View Lodge serve not only as an ideal starting point for mountain tours taking place on Mt. Meru or for it’s neighbouring “big brother” the majestic, snow-capped Kilimanjaro.

The 15 comfortable bungalow rooms dispose of shower / WC, a small terrace and quilt blankets (duvets) for the cool highland nights.

There is a large, shady garden with swimming pool, Restaurant, Vegetable Garden, Homemade Dairy Products, Internet Access, Luggage Storage, Rental of Mountain Equipment, Laundry Service, available.

MARANGU HOTEL

The Marangu Hotel takes its name from the surrounding area. "Marangu" means "full of water" in the local Chagga language, and the lush green surroundings demonstrate the truth of this. The central hotel building was once a farm house, built in the early 1900s, and is of a charming, old world style. This is a family-run business, with the consequent attention to detail one expects.

Guest accommodation is provided in cottages around the grounds. The cottages are of varied style, and each has its own character. Several cottages have integral central sitting rooms, which are popular with small groups travelling together. All rooms have private bathrooms with bath or shower.

The hotel has a swimming pool, croquet lawn, comfortable bar, lounge and a campsite. Walks through the surrounding banana and coffee farms, along the river that borders the hotel on one side, and the colorful local markets are available.

AMEG LODGE

AMEG Lodge is located at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro and set on 4.5 acres. It has been constructed with local Tanzanian building materials and designed to combine antique African and modern contemporary styles creating an articulate and seductive ambiance. Frangipani and palm trees adorn the grounds amidst a variety of colorful tropical plants.

There are 20 bedrooms, all en-suite, with twin and double beds. Each room has its own private verandah where one can relax and enjoy the view. All the rooms are furnished to a high standard, offering satellite TVs, phones, fans, and en-suite bathrooms. Of the 20 rooms, 5 are junior suites. In addition to the above amenities, each suite features air-conditioning and unlimited use of the internet.

CAPRICORN HOTEL

Capricorn Hotel is situated at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro at an altitude of 1,700 meters and located less then three kilometers from the Marangu gate. The hotel lies in 2.5-hectare gardens in the forest zone immediately outside the park boundary. It is the largest hotel in the Marangu area, and it's even larger now following the recent addition of the 32-room Kibo Wing.

The Hotel has 25 ensuite self contained rooms, overlooking the surrounding gardens and lush greenery, with Balcony/ Terrace, Mini-Bar (some), Cable/ Satellite Television (some), Television (some).

NAKARA HOTEL

Nakara Hotel is located on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, around one hundred kilometres from Kilimanjaro Airport. With the Marangu Gate only 2kms from the hotel, it's perfectly suited to climbers.

It has twenty five en suite rooms that are clean and tidy, guests feel quite intimate here, though there is usually a buzz of excitement in the air! The hotel has a bar, restaurant with a good a la carte menu and also provided buffets for larger climbing groups.

BABU'S CAMP

Babu's Camp is situated in north-eastern Tanzania, within the newly gazetted Mkomazi National Park which borders Tsavo National Park in Kenya. Shadowed by the Usambara and Pare mountains, Mkomazi stretches along a semi-arid savanna arc of acacia covered beauty, with views of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.

Although less visited, it is home to animals that are difficult to see anywhere else in Tanzania. Mkomazi has 78 known species of animals and over 450 recorded bird species. It is an excellent birding destination and a place to walk and night drive. Mkomazi has a Rhino Sanctuary where Tony Fitzjohn has established Tanzania's first Black Rhino breeding program.

Beautifully set among baobabs and acacia, the 5 large walk-in safari tents and are comfortably furnished with a large hand-carved wooden bed (or twin beds), a wardrobe, changing area, safari chairs, and a writing desk. Each tent also has an attached bathroom with a flush toilet and hot shower.

Special attention has been paid to the aesthetic, both in the placement of the tents and the furnishings inside. The tent interiors reflect the land around them - soft earth tones, natural fabrics, stone, wood, and grass all used to create a peaceful, harmonious existence with nature.

MAWENI FARM

Maweni Farm, is an Eco Retreat located in the Usambara massif which rises from Tanzania’s northern plain, a range of towering granite peaks cloaked in dense tropical forest. This little-known region is home to some of the country’s most diverse plant and birdlife and a network of amazing mountain trails. Maweni Farm first saw the light during the German colonization. The farm and outbuildings, which preserve many of their original features, were recently refurbished. Maweni is a botanical and ornithological wonderland

Maweni has a total of 11 bedrooms and 4 safari-style tents. 5 rooms are in the original farmhouse - a large family room (suite) with ensuite shower room, two doubles and two twins all with their own shower rooms. In an adjoining annexe are a further 6 rooms which share just one bathroom and toilet. Of these, four are doubles, one a twin and one a small single. All the rooms have a fresh, uncluttered and cared-for feel, in keeping with the unshowy ethic of Maweni. Parquet and screed floors are polished to perfection, the netted beds have really good mattresses, whilst ‘tinga-tinga’2 paintings add a splash of colour to an otherwise subdued all-white scheme.
