Katuma Bush Lodge is situated in the centre of the Katavi National Park, on an elevated point overlooking the vast plains of Katisunga. Herds of animals coming in search of fresh grazing grounds and water provide the perfect view right from your tent. Tamarind and Acacia trees provide shade and the sunsets behind the distant woodlands surrounding the seasonal lake provide a perfect background to the stunning scenery. The camp consists of ten spacious tents, where every minor detail has been addressed to ensure comfort and luxury – from sumptuous linens to international cuisine, blending in with the natural surroundings to uphold the spirit of Katavi. The TentsAll the tents are made from heavy-duty canvas material with ample space to relax and walk around. They are well ventilated with zip down gauze windows and roll up flap doors. The tents have been placed meticulously to enhance the view. The décor is of a precise selection to engulf you in the African Safari atmosphere. Each unit contains single or double wooden beds fitted with firm mattresses and mosquito protection. Other furnishings in the unit include a writing desk and chair, bedside table, lamp and clothes rack. Each unit is en suite with hot water for showers (solar heaters), basin and flushing toilet. The units are adequately spaced apart to ensure your privacy.
Activities Though there is plenty of wildlife at your doorstep, literally, the Lodge intends to give you the complete Katavi adventure experience that leaves you having seen the best of what the park has to offer. Game drives: - They supply 4x4 vehicles for most game viewing at Katavi. The drives are centered across the woodland areas along the seasonal lakes of Chada and Katavi, where most of the game is found - including the big cats. The Iku area provides the best spectacles of Hippopotami and Crocodiles. Game viewing is mostly done in the mornings and late afternoons. Walking Safaris: - As the camp is located at the heart of the park, where the biggest concentration of animals resides, it gives a selection of organized short, guided walks in the late afternoons. Clients are accompanied by armed rangers into some of the most spectacular sites in the park, allowing clients to enjoy the unique tranquil bliss of being a part of nature. Fly camping: - With more than 4,000 sq km to explore, one camp is just not enough. Concentration of game are scattered in different regions of the park, some quite far from the main camp. For those seeking that further step into adventure, fly camping offers a distinct experience of the distant areas, rich in terms of game and scenery. The lodge offers clients the opportunity to fly camp at different areas of the park and recommend 3 nights for this.
