Hakuna Matata Beach Lodge & Spa is a 4 Star hotel located on the west coast of the exotic island of Zanzibar. The Swahili word “Hakuna Matata” means “No Problem”. The property has mature mango trees, a private bay with white sandy beach, and the old Chuini Palace ruins. Various other tropical fruit like papaya, banana, guava, breadfruit, coconut, almond, orange, lime grow in this paradise. The size of the resort is about 1.5ha. The ruins aqueduct, the connected cisterns, the bath, the pool and the minaret have been restored and integrated. These features make Hakuna Matata a distinctive experience with its 'Touch of History.’

Resort & Setting
Sultan Seyyid Barghash bin Said constructed this palace at the end of the 19th century. It is in very good condition and you will find the original aqueduct, cisterns, the baths and the minaret. The 3 basins of the old Sultan's pool are connected by cascades. The roof of the minaret was being reconstructed earlier this year.

Location
Hakuna Matata is located on the west coast 12km north of Stone Town. it is a 20 minute drive from the airport and town. You can also take a 'dala dala' the public transportation (line 502 Bububu) or a taxi.

Accommodation
The beach hotel offers 13 comfortable bungalows all with a spectacular views of the Indian Ocean. Hakuna Matata has 4 different bungalow categories namely, Standard, Superior, Honeymoon Suite, and Executive. There are 6 Standard, 1 Standard Twin, 1 Suite, 2 Superior and 3 Executive rooms. The bungalows all have names of villages once visited by the famous persons David Livingstone and Bernhard Grzimek: - Arusha, Zambezi, Kilimanjaro, Executive Tabora, Serengeti, Bagamoyo, Kilwa.

• Standard: Living/ bedroom, toilet/ shower, queen size bed.
• Twin Standard: Small bedroom, toilet/ shower, living room with a traditional single bed.
• Luxury: big living/ bedroom, separate toilet, big bathroom/ shower, super king size bed and 1 additional single bed
• Honeymoon Suite: As luxury + veranda above the ocean with outdoor bathtub
• Executive: Bedroom queen size bed, bathroom/ shower/ toilet, big living room, 2 additional day beds

All bungalows have a living room with a queen or king size bed and a spacious bathroom with toilet and shower. AC, ceiling fan, hot and cold water, mosquito net, shower gel, hair dryer, towels, beach towels and mats are included in all rooms. The big terrace gives you a spectacular view of the Indian Ocean.

Restaurant and Bar
The restaurant offers first class international and national cuisine, all with a touch of Zanzibar. Of course our specialty is everything fresh from the sea. The excellent selection of South African wines are available to enhance your dinner. Once a week the kitchen celebrates 'haute cuisine' on the beach. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The bar and coffee bar is open all day and serves fresh cake from 3p.m.

Spa: The unique day spa in the old ruins is operated by their own professional. Its setting on the shores of the Indian Ocean lets your senses flow while you are captivated by the smell of aromatic spice oils.

Games: In the reception you will find a variety of board games, playing cards, billiard table, etc. Further, there are ball games at the beach and table tennis in the ruins.

Excursions and snorkeling: Take an excursion trip to a secret sandbank in the Indian Ocean. An ice cold glass of champagne awaits you whilst breathtaking views of untouched reefs give you the feeling of infinity. Sunset cruises along the west coast of Zanzibar are offered daily.

Diving: All PADI dive courses are offered.

Big Game Fishing: In the blue waters of Zanzibar you can catch Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna - just to name a few.

Weddings & Honeymoons: Hakuna Matata specializes in organizing weddings in Zanzibar - on the beach or in old Sultan ruins. They are able to take care of all formalities and legal procedures for your special day.

Support of Community
Hakuna Matata's policy is to give as much benefit as possible to the local people. A lot of the staff reside in the nearby village. Another important topic is to teach the people about environmental needs. They try to teach them about waste problems and support a 'keep the roads clean project.'
