Boundary Hill Lodge is literally perched on the edge of Tarangire National Park, among trees and rock outcrops (kopjes). The lodge is nestled into the cliffs and huge granite slabs. Built of natural materials, predominantly local stone, wood and burnt brick, Boundary Hill Lodge offers outstanding views over the Silale and Gosuwa swamps, where elephant and buffalo graze among the acacia and baobab trees beneath the vastness of Africa's sky.

Boundary Hill Lodge is Tanzania's newest wildlife experience is located high above the savannah where agama lizards and the red flowers of aloe vera provide a vivid and eye-catching contrast to herbs, grasses and bare rocks.

Boundary Hill Lodge is the forerunner of other similar projects in Tanzania and has a number of pioneering features. It is the first lodge in Tanzania to have a local community shareholding, with the Masai village of Lokisale owning 50%. One of the few lodges in Tanzania to be located in its own exclusive Conservation Area, Lokisale Village has set aside 164 square kilometers for walking safaris, night drives and fly camping. It is the first lodge in Tanzania to put the needs of the surrounding environment uppermost.

In an era where words such as 'fair', 'community' and 'eco' are increasingly used in attempts to differentiate supposedly 'new' approaches to tourism activities, Boundary Hill Lodge sets standards in community partnership and conservation, which will be hard to beat. Anywhere!

Accommodation
Consisting of only eight very spacious individually designed rooms, the lodge is designed to offer as much privacy as possible. None of the rooms are overlooked. All of them have private sitting areas, spacious balconies and spectacular views. Built in harmony with the environment, among the rocks and cliffs, of natural materials and colors, with fine furnishings; the rooms offer unparalleled comfort and quietly understated luxury. All have en-suite facilities with separate showers and five are double suites with cast-iron baths. Boundary Hill Lodge will provide a unique African experience and an opportunity to savor the savannah in a very special way.

Facilities
Centrally located, in a natural hollow and within easy reach of all rooms, the 220,000 liters Swimming pool, which has natural rock features as its walls, provide a refreshing respite from the rigors of travel. The dining and bar areas have been built to make maximum use of existing features and to capitalize on the surrounding views. Natural terraces have been subtly enhanced to provide intimate areas in which to relax and savor the sights and sounds of the savannah below. The smell of freshly baked breads emanating from the outdoor oven, together with fish, meat and vegetables sizzling on the barbecue tempt the senses and provide a gentle contrast and climax to the days activities. Enjoy fine food in stunning surroundings.

Green Footprint
In this unique area, which is environmentally sensitive, every step has been taken to ensure minimal impact. All roofs are designed to collect rainwater. This is stored in concealed cisterns. We do not expect it will be necessary to take any water from the surrounding habitat. Solar panels and wind turbines will provide all power. There is no noisy petrol or diesel generator to detract from or mask the sounds of the African bush.
