Bougainvillea Safari Lodge aims to provide guests with simple homely comforts at a reasonable price. This simple but comfortable safari lodge is a great place to take a break in the middle of safari, or to start your next safari adventure. The lovely garden atmosphere gives you plenty of room to relax. Location Bougainvillea Safari Lodge is located on the outskirts of Karatu town midway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. It is less than two hours from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Accommodation Bougainvillea Safari Lodge currently has 32 stone bungalows set in landscaped gardens, and linked by hedged walkways. Each cozy room is generously proportioned has mosquito-netted king or twin beds, a fireplace, hair dryer, large bathroom with shower (hot and cold water), and a veranda from which to enjoy the views of our lush tropical gardens. Triples are possible with prior notice and two of the cottages can be used as family suites, with connecting rooms.
Public Areas There is a large common area building housing reception, lounge, bar, gift shop and dining rooms. The lodge also has a bar with a selection of soft drinks, south African wines, local and international beers, and spirits. The restaurant offers lunch a la carte, and for dinner a buffet, which caters also for vegetarians. The food is excellent! There is also internet access which is available for a small fee. The swimming pool sits in the centre of the property surrounded by the cottages and gardens. Meals Fruit, vegetables, dairy products, eggs and meats sourced locally to ensure that ingredients are as fresh as possible. If you have any dietary restrictions, requests or requirements, give ample notice so that they can accommodate you.
Activities Wildlife Viewing: located near to some of the most amazing wildlife areas on the planet. Bird Watching: About 1200 species of birds, Tanzania is one of the best places for bird watching. You’ll find it hard to resist marveling at the colorful and sometimes comical avian visitors and residents at the lodge. Cultural Activities: There is ample opportunity to visit some of the fascinating tribes nearby. You can visit the Iraqw, Hadzabe or Datoga communities. The interesting agricultural village of Mto wa Mbo is nearby too. Or, just go into town for a taste of local life. Relax or Swim: Sometimes its best just to stay put! The gorgeous gardens are a balm to the senses and the pool is just a few steps away if you fancy a dip.
Hiking and Walking: You can easily walk into town from the lodge to experience a bustling African community. There are plenty of shops and a local market to explore. Take a stroll into the countryside to experience a neighboring coffee plantation or you can hike in the Ngorongoro Conservation area for a more strenuous outing. Treat Yourself to a Massage: Therapeutic massages are available (adjacent to the pool bar) to work out the kinks after a long day on the safari circuit. Children Policy Child 6-12 sharing with adults is $20 per night.
