The heritage of Zanzibar dating back to the era of the Sultans is evoked in this beautiful 30 villa, fully inclusive boutique resort. Arabic, Swahili and Indian design influences are dominant, with Swahili arches, intricate hand carved cement décor, beautiful antiques, hand made furniture and intricate brass lanterns. Accommodation
There are 14 one bedroom villas and 15 two bedroom villas, as well as one Presidential two bedroom villa. All the accommodation villas are designed to characterize classic Swahili architecture featuring dramatic arches, cement Baraza benches and intricate hand carved cement decorations. The spacious villas feature luxury interiors, beautiful fabrics, hand carved furniture and brass lanterns, large bathrooms with luxury fittings as well as a spacious terrace and private plunge pool.There are four different villa categories at Baraza and one Presidential Villa:

Presidential Villa (Ocean Front) - Two master bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom and freestanding bath, walk in dressing room and terrace. A central living room with spectacular sea front view, large plunge pool, outdoor daybed lounging area, outdoor dining area and terrace with sun loungers. The Presidential Suite also features a small kitchenette and a small separate guest toilet. There is also a separate, self contained accommodation for maid or butler adjacent to the presidential suite.

The menu is designed to feature the best produce the island has to offer. It is inspired by Arabic, Indian, Persian, Asian and Swahili flavors using the local Spices for which the island is famous as well as favorite continental offerings. Every evening features a different influence showcasing the islands produce and spices. The various Restaurants and Bars are as follows:

The Water Club is the water sports Center located approx 300 meters from Baraza on the beach front. Featuring a great selection of new equipment and offering instruction in wind surfing, kite surfing and sailing, The Water Club is the perfect place to experience the very best of the Indian Ocean.Baraza has been approved as the First BEST KITE SCHOOL IN ZANZIBAR. Their IKO certified instructor will have you flying in No time with their new 2008 Kites and Gear.

ACTIVITIES
High Tide
Kite surfing - This is the fastest growing water sport in the world. This is available for everyone, from just trying a trainer kite to tips and lessons on water starts, jumps and tricks.
Sailing - Try sailing in the Indian Ocean this holiday, they offer daily lessons to experience sport, and hiring of equipment for the more experienced.
Wind surfing - With warm flat waters and constant breeze, what better place to learn a new sport. Lessons are offered everyday as well as the option of renting the equipment.
Snorkeling - Feel free to snorkel outside the hotel; however they recommend their daily trip to the coral lagoon.
Pedal Boats - Take your loved one out for a ride on the waves and a little exercise on one of their fun for all in the family pedal boats!
Kayaks - This is the real deal…professional sea kayaks for family fun.Paddle Boarding - Try the ancient Hawaiian form of surfing with a fun and colorful board.
Low Tide
Power Kite - Try the new sport of kite surfing the safe way, lessons with their trainer kites are offered at low to mid tide.
Land Board - After learning to fly the Power Kite you can take it to the next level by surfing the beach. Depending on your comfort level there are several lesson options.
Kite Buggy - After learning to fly the power kite and similar to the above but on a three wheeled seated beach buggy.
Bikes - What better way to explore the coastline of the north and visit the local villages of Bewjuu and Paje in the south than to cycle down the beautiful white beaches of the east coast.
Beach Activities - Join the staff for games of football and volleyball or build a sand castle with the family.
Beach Games - Try your hand at a few of the available games ranging from Frisbee, beach tennis, swimming pool volleyball.
Reef Shoe Rental - Rent some reef shoes and walk out to the reef, this is a great way to see some of the local juvenile marine life and to enjoy the view of the coastline on the way back. Snorkeling Trips
Treat yourself to some of Zanzibar’s amazing marine life and coastline. A member of the water sports team will be on hand for this 2 1/2 hr. trip to show you the reef and to help with any of your needs.
Bike-Snorkelling Trip "Cycle about 30 minutes to a nice spot and snorkel for 1 - 1.5 hours.
